After one year of work, the Droséra Park opened on June 6, 1992. Far from any urban center, located in an area being less and less populated, it was thus desired like a bet, bet on the life.
Patrick Burtart didn’t listen to the doubts of the ones, skepticism of the others and without any subsidy, realized it with the assistance of friends and trustful contractors.
This Park is becoming richer each year with new models. Most imposing is the cathedral of Clermont-Ferrand. Gradually it is all our area which is offered in miniature to thousands of visitors of this park in full nature.
Nestling on the Monts du Forez east slope, it is a garden of 10 hectares dotted with 50 models of the most beautiful monuments of the area. At the entrance, the visitor sees the reproductions of Saint bonnet-the-castle, Saint Etienne and the castle of Pirou de Thiers. As soon as he engages on the path of 2 kms which goes through the park, in fact the dream settles. An historical return with the Vault of the Martyrs and the dramas of the French revolution, a study of the establishment of the cities with Feurs or the wars of religion with the baron of the Adrets and the castle of Montrond-les Bains. All the history of Forez is told, and the most beautiful vestiges existing are faithfully reproduced on scale 1/20.
Its landscapes, its climate, its atmosphere make an ideal place to forget the daily newspaper and to find its roots. By observing the landscape which is offered to us, we can see many "jasseries" which recall that formerly the shepherds remained there all the summer with their herds. These low houses, built of large stones, in the middle of the pastures have seen the birth of the most beautiful legends of our mountains….and the love of the elders.
Patrick Burtart is happy today because his bet was a success: He created a leisure park in a desert zone. It thus created 5 jobs.
